過去完了形は「過去のある時点とその時以前」を繋ぐ。NOTE: 完了形は「今と今まで」を繋げる。
eg. The man had run away when the police arrived.
eg. The game had already begun when we arrived at the stadium.
eg. He received an award for the project on which he had spent much time.
過去のある時点に視点を置いてその時までの事について述べている。過去の1点に視点が置かれており、そこから前を表現する時しか過去完了形は使われない。
